Pair lecturing to enhance reflective practice and teacher development

    Using the lectures as preparation time for the course assistant enabled us to introduce pair lecturing in our course on software models, without an increase in teaching hours. Through pair lecturing we achieve a more dynamic interaction between students and teachers, resulting in the students having a more active approach towards their learning. Pair lecturing also gives the teachers the opportunity of reflection in their own practice while still in the lecture hall, enabling a more productive integration of the student interaction. Pair lecturing also strengthens the reflection on practice since the teaching experiences are shared between the course responsible and assistant. In a long-term perspective the tacit knowledge on teaching the course has been passed on to the course assistant through a smooth introduction to teaching.
