OCSLD supports all staff to achieve practitioner and vocational qualifications in a number of occupational themes. Accreditation for skills and knowledge at different levels through the new Certificate and Diploma qualifications (updated NVQs) is supported by experienced coaches, on-site assessment and OCSLD workshops and can be built into your personal and professional development plans.
The first step is to consult with your OCSLD link on your individual or team need; often through the PDR process, but also at any time of the year. Your OCSLD consultant will talk you through the elements of the qualification and discuss the type of support you will need from Brookes. Typically, the qualification process includes; an initial skills scoping exercise, short induction with a qualified assessor, a series of coaching sessions, support with producing a portfolio of evidence, advice on which workshops and vocational experiences would support your learning, and final certification.
You can build a qualification around any occupational skill set; this is why a consultation is strongly advisable. Popular qualifications include although this list is not exhaustive:
Levels 3 and 5 Management are usually attached to the Core Management and Leadership Management programme (CMLP). For this year only there will be no CMLP but the Level 3 and 5 qualifications will still be available to staff through the coach method.
Certificates and Diplomas form part of apprenticeship frameworks and there are many more on offer. Consultancy on your apprenticeship needs is available through OCSLD.
OCSLD can provide assessment and consultancy on these basic skill areas.
