Cancer in the workplace

  • Supporting employers and employees

There are over 500,000 people with cancer working across the UK.  This figure is expected to double by 2030 as more people survive a diagnosis of cancer.  In seeking to return to work, employees, their managers and colleagues each face different and complex challenges that can have a significant impact in the workplace.

Maggie's offer a workshop to help managers support colleagues affected by cancer.

    Course content:

Our session will help you to:

    • Understand the emotional, physical and psychological needs of employees with cancer
    • Approach these situations with knowledge, empathy and understanding by providing you with insights and management strategies
    • Create the right framework to manage employees with cancer

Built in the grounds of NHS hospitals that focus on cancer, and complementing the clinical care they provide, Maggie’s Centres are calming and helpful places that offer the extra emotional, practical and social support that people with cancer and their families and friends need.
