Budget Holder Training

  • Who is it for
    All budget holders. This training is mandatory. 

    Overview
    The University is an exempt charity using public money, so it’s incumbent on all budget holders to manage their budgets efficiently and seek value for money.  Devised and delivered by Heads of Finance, this three hour workshop explores budget holder responsibilities and budget management. 

    Date(s)
    Programme starts on Wednesday 13 November and will be rolled out over the Winter.

    Duration
    Three hours to be followed by more indepth training within your own faculty or directorate.

    Location
    Most sessions are offered at Gipsy Lane but some will also take place at Harcourt, Wheatley and Marston. 

  • To give new and experienced budget holders increased confidence in applying their knowledge and skills in budget management. 

    By the end of the workshop, you will:

    • understand your responsibilities as a budget holder complying with the University’s Financial Regulations, policies and procedures

    • own your own budget and be able to monitor and control your report outcomes 

    • have confidence in applying knowledge and skills

    • know where to seek more advice and support

    Refreshments

    • There will be one 15 minute break for which tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring your own if you would like a drink at the start of the session.

    • Once you have chosen your session, please add the details to your calendar. Joining instructions will be sent to you by email shortly before the session.  

    Evaluation

    • You will be asked to complete a form at the end of the workshop and your comments will be used to improve the training.
