Manager as Communicator

  • Who is it for?
    People who are new to management and managers who have not received any formal management training.

    Overview
    This workshop provides managers with useful communication models which will help them establish better working relationships based on shared understanding.  This will lead to higher levels of staff engagement and motivation.

  • To enable managers to communicate more effectively in order to achieve higher levels of motivation and staff engagement.  

    By the end of the session, you will be able to:

    • Explain the components of effective communication
    • Identify the barriers to effective communication
    • Demonstrate key principles of effective/assertive communication in different situations: saying no, giving feedback, etc.
    • Recognise different communication styles
    • Use techniques which reduce the tensions experienced in having difficult conversations

    Pre-workshop reflections questions are sent out in advance to aid participant interaction on the day.
