Travel Bursary
Did you know that you might be eligible for an Applicant or Open Day travel bursary?
Our Travel Bursary covers the cost of a round trip journey from your home postcode to our Headington Campus at a rate of £0.40 per mile.
Who is the Applicant Day Travel Bursary for?
You can apply for the bursary if you are a UK student and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You live in an area where progression to university is low. If your home postcode is in quintile 1 or 2 of the POLAR4 measure, you are eligible for a travel bursary. To find out whether this applies to you, please use the Office for Students postcode search tool.
- You live in an area of higher socio-economic disadvantage. If your postcode is in decile 1 - 4 of the ‘Index of Multiple Deprivation’, you are eligible for a travel bursary. To find out whether this applies to you, please use the English indices of deprivation postcode lookup tool.
- You are a care leaver (you have spent any time in local authority care, for example with foster carers or in a children’s home).
- You are an estranged student (you are irreconcilably estranged from both your parents, and you are a UK student who is under 25).
- You have previously taken part in Discover Brookes, Brookes Engage, or an Oxford Brookes Summer School.
How do I claim the Applicant Day Travel Bursary?
You should register for the event you are attending on eventbrite which will enable our system to identify whether you are eligible. If you are eligible you will then receive a separate email from our team. This will include the amount that you can claim, and the process for claiming your bursary.
Points to note
- The travel bursary is only available for your journey to our Applicant or Open Days, travelling directly to and from the Oxford Brookes Campus.
- You need to register on eventbrite which acts as your application for the travel bursary.
- If you complete the travel bursary form before midday on Monday 20 March, you will receive the bursary before the event. Any forms completed by midday on Monday 27 March will receive the bursary on Monday 3 April.
- Any forms completed after midday on Monday 27 March will be paid on Monday 10 April.
- Accepting an Applicant or Open day travel bursary does not commit you to accept Oxford Brookes as your Firm or Insurance choice. Neither does it guarantee that we will be able to offer you a study place, if we have not already done so.
If you have any questions relating to the travel bursary, please contact us.
We can’t wait to meet you at our next Open Day. Until then, find out more about Oxford Brookes and what makes us unique.
Event programme
We’re a multi-campus university so, to make sure you begin your day with us in the right place, we recommend that you start by exploring the campus where your preferred subject is based. To help you make the most of your Open Day experience, your subject-specific sessions will be hosted on the campus/site relevant to your course.
There will be both subject-specific sessions and general talks on the day so please make sure you give yourself enough time to attend all sessions that are relevant to you.
If you start your sessions at Marston Road site or Wheatley Campus, please join us at our Headington Campus after your subject talks.
Please note, Harcourt Hill Campus will be closed for this event due to local road closures. Subject talks on our Education courses will take place at our main site - Headington Campus.
To see the full schedule of activity for this Open Day and to plan your day, please see the Event Programme.
