HLS first to support Nursing Times Speak Out Safely campaign

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is proud to be the first higher education institution to support the Nursing Times Speak Out Safely whistleblower protection campaign.
The campaign, which aims to encourage healthcare providers to develop cultures that are transparent and encourage staff to "speak out" if they see poor practice, is being backed by NHS trusts and other healthcare organisations from across the
Many staff working in the NHS don't feel able to speak out about concerns in case it's held against them personally, whilst some fear losing their jobs if they're viewed as troublemakers by superiors.
Our commitment to this pledge means that where staff or students identify a genuine patient safety concern, we will support them, help them to ensure their concern is fully investigated and, if appropriate, act on their concern.
