Nursing at Oxford Brookes is proud to offer an experience where both staff and students are given the resources and support they need to excel in all their endeavours.
Recently, we have been very happy to announce that various staff have been recognised for going above and beyond.
Dan Butcher, Jennifer Kirman, Marion Waite won a Brookes Teaching Innovation Award last year, for their ‘Writing Outside the Box’ project. Running over two years, the project will encourage students to explore their studies in new and creative ways.
Nursing staff are also regularly recognised in the Student Union Teaching Awards, with Lesley Crabtree winning Best Academic Advisor last year. Voted for by students, this is a real recognition for a member of the team going above and beyond in the support they offer.
In terms of student accomplishments, Adult Nursing student Tine Panduro was recently selected for the Student Leadership Programme. This programme runs for four months and supplies intensive training in essential knowledge and skills for future healthcare leaders.
Two nursing students were also recognised last year in the Oxford Brookes Social Entrepreneurs Award. Raluca Vagner and Pedro Faria Simas were encouraged by their mentors to develop their ideas, and ended up presenting at the Global Challenge. As well as the chance to present their entrepreneurial ideas along with 22 other institutions from 7 countries, they ended up winning £3,500 to put their project into action.
PhD students Neesha Oozageer Gunowa and Lauren Harding also recently won Florence Nightingale Foundation travel scholarships to further their research in the US and Japan.
Both in and out of their studies, nursing staff and students at Brookes are achieving great things.
