Research

At the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery, we aspire to bring together preeminent figures in healthcare research through our Centre for Nursing Health and Social Care research. We strive to nurture the next generation of researchers.

World-leading research

The majority of our research is already accredited as ‘world-leading’. Meanwhile, our unique partnership allows us to create the best possible opportunities for our researchers. Researchers choose the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery for:

Our expertise

Our research takes place through the Oxford Institute for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Research (OxINMAHR). This collaboration across universities and healthcare providers brings together true leaders in their fields.

Our flexibility

We offer a range of options for research study, from short courses to full PhDs and Professional Doctorates that allow you to study part-time while you work. We also help students take their first steps in research.

Our values

Our partnership highlights the way that research, education and practice are interlinked and all feed into one another. Our research is informed by knowledge gained from education and practice. In return, it always seeks to improve both educational and clinical outcomes.

Research degrees

A research degree with the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery allows you to develop your skills and contribute to internationally recognised research supported by skilled staff and a vibrant, cross-discipline research student community.

The School offers high quality training and research facilities that can be accessed by both part-time and full-time students, and all research students become part of the University's Graduate College, which runs a comprehensive programme of training sessions and workshops to give you the opportunity to acquire both research and transferable skills to advance your career. We complement this with research methodology courses, seminars featuring eminent academics, and the opportunity to present work at the Annual Faculty Research Student Symposium.
