Matthew teaches corporate finance, financial reporting and strategy at undergraduate, post graduate and MBA levels. His experience of applying financial theory, skills and techniques in the field assists him to add context to his academic teaching and to illustrate the challenges, contradictions and different perspectives that exist.

Matthew came to Oxford Brookes to teach in 2014 and gained his PGTHE here in 2017. He previously qualified as a Chartered Accountant and after three years with Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) commenced a career in industry in UK listed companies with international operations. He gained an additional professional qualification as a Corporate Treasurer and has held roles including Group Financial Controller, Group Treasurer, Head of Corporate Finance and Finance Director. He has also worked in smaller companies seeking to develop in retail, polymer research, agriculture and mineral exploration which required him to live and work in Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.
