UREC terms of reference

    1. To review and approve all research studies by staff and postgraduate research students involving human participants, or the collection of human data or material, prior to the commencement of that research.
    2. To monitor the progress of all research that is subject to an ethics review by UREC to ensure compliance with the University Code of Practice for Academic Integrity.
    3. To liaise with the Associate Deans for Research and Knowledge Exchange in each Faculty to ensure that they have put in place robust procedures for ethical review in each subject area.
    4. To provide formal and informal guidance to staff and postgraduate research students on the ethical conduct of research activities involving human participants.
    5. To consider ethical standards that are required by external funding bodies
    6. To report annually to the Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee.
