Thank you for your application to study BA Fine Art and congratulations on reaching the portfolio stage of the selection process.
All our applicants to the BA Fine Art undergraduate programme who meet the entry requirements are invited to submit an electronic portfolio. This part of the selection process allows us to make a final decision on your application. Should you be successful in your application and to help you decide whether Oxford Brookes is the right place for you, you will be invited to attend an Applicant Day which will give you the opportunity to visit the School of Arts, meet academics and students.
The next steps you need to take are:
It is important that your portfolio contains a diverse range of work and processes (finished and in progress), so that we can gauge your experiences and abilities to date. We are interested in what excites you as an emerging artist. We suggest that you include your most recent work (this will vary, depending on whether you are applying from a foundation course or direct from A-levels).
We do not expect you to have experience of every art process, nor do we need to see everything you have done. Everyone is different. However, we are keen to find out more about you and the artists you are interested in. What exhibitions have you visited recently? Whose work inspires your own?
The portfolio can contain the following types of work:
Remember, this is a competitive process and we ask that your portfolio is well organised and presented, and that your work is clearly labelled.
To create an online portfolio upload images of your work on www.carbonmade.com. Please note, the free 5 project portfolio is fine, you do not need to purchase any enhanced versions for this submission.
We are only able to review portfolios digitally, using the above website. Please do not send your portfolio by post.
Instructions on how to upload your portfolio can be found on www.carbonmade.com, however if you are experiencing difficulties in collating or uploading your portfolio, please contact us.
Once you have created your online portfolio, please submit it by completing the Fine Art Portfolio Submission Form. Do not email your portfolio directly.
Your portfolio should be received by the date given in your email invitation. If you are not able to submit your portfolio by this date but still wish to be considered for a place, do please contact the Programme Administrator.
Following the review of your portfolio, the Admissions Office at Oxford Brookes will be advised whether you have been successful in your application for Fine Art. As a combined programme applicant you will need to be successful in your application for the other subject you have applied for as well. When assessment for both subjects has been completed, a final decision will appear on your UCAS page.
Fill in the Portfolio Submission Form. This form is for the purpose of submitting your digital portfolio, as part of your application for Fine Art.
Any questions? For help or advice about the admissions process in the School of Arts please contact our Programme Administrator:
