Designed to meet the challenges of the modern media, film industry and computer games, the degree programmes in Film and Digital Media Production at Brookes prepare students with the multi-platform skills, professional expertise, intellectual proficiency and knowledge required by one of the fastest growing employment sectors in the UK. Taught by inspirational academics, award winning industry professionals and supported by visiting tutors, scholars and alumni from the film, TV and games industry and higher education, students will join a dynamic and vibrant creative hub in the School of Arts within which to develop imaginative and critical work. Graduates have gone on to work for Universal, HBO, BBC, Framestore, The Discovery Channel and Sky TV.

Many of the staff in Digital Media and Film are active researchers exploring areas as diverse as Italian cinema audiences of the fifties and sixties; violence and masculinity in popular culture; data-mining film reviews; virtual reality and the avant-garde; and complex film-making in Hollywood focussing on the work of Christopher Nolan. In the last HEFCE research assessment (REF2014) areas of expertise identified included Mediterranean Cinema, audience studies and film as spectacle.
FSRU undertakes research into film history, film theory, as well as film criticism.
The Audience Project (TAP) Research Group aims to encourage, produce and disseminate innovative audience research.
