Confucius Institute (CI) is a non-profit collaboration, which aims to provide Chinese language and cultural teaching resources and services worldwide, supports local Chinese teaching internationally, and facilitates cultural exchanges. Our mission and goals are:
Our Chinese and culture classes start in September or October, including evening classes for students and the local community.
China-themed activities and events are held for people to understand and experience Chinese traditional and contemporary culture.
Our institute develops publications on Chinese language and culture in cooperation with presses worldwide.
On 19th September 2015, the Confucius Institute at Oxford Brookes University was approved by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in partnership with the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) in China. Apart from the common aims, our CI uniquely concentrates on publishing - an area in which Oxford Brookes University enjoys an international reputation.
Our Chinese language and culture classes run three times a year, starting in September/October, including evening classes for students and the local community. We would also be pleased to offer customised business classes for the local enterprises.
Following each course, students have the chance to take part in the internationally recognised and certified HSK Chinese Proficiency test.
We offer tailor-made programmes to help professionals develop a better understanding of Chinese language and culture.
From lessons with a master calligrapher to lessons on China’s changing culture and everything in between!
The Confucius Institute at Oxford Brookes University is an official test centre for the Chinese Proficiency Tests, including HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), HSKK (Hanyu Shuiping Kouyu Kaoshi), YCT (Youth Chinese Test) and BCT (Business Chinese Test) exams.
Confucius Institute at Oxford Brookes offers different funding schemes for students, scholars and members of the public who are interested in visiting and truly experiencing China.
