Before I came on the Artist Teacher Scheme I was teaching Art full time in Poole High School after graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2003 with a BA in Fine Art and getting my PGCE from Bristol University in 2006. I decided to do the ATS at Brookes because I wanted to study again, and to develop a more meaningful art practice that somehow involved my teaching.

One of the best aspects of the course was having the opportunity to share ideas and practice with other like-minded individuals. I’ve met some wonderful people through the Artist Teacher Scheme who I hope I will keep in touch with. I started an Artist Teacher Facebook Page for my final project and I hope to continue to expand this to create meaningful opportunities for artist teachers to communicate.

One member of staff who I have found to be particularly helpful is Rachel Payne, who is utterly inspirational. Her drive and passion for art education is amazing and she was extremely supportive throughout the course.
