I love how international and vibrant Oxford is, to live, study and work. It’s a city with all the facilities you could need, close to London but also surrounded by countryside and with an identity all of its own

Annette Gautrey graduated from Amsterdam University with a Master’s degree in Communication Science and has been serving as a Police Officer for the past 15 years.

I came to Brookes to deepen my knowledge of the law, not only to enable me to perform better in my role as a specialist Domestic Violence Officer, but also to give me enhanced skills and knowledge which would enable me to change career into private law at some stage in the future. I’d like to work in a local law firm.

I was able to study for the GDL part-time, which enabled me to continue in my career and have time for other commitments. Brookes was also flexible in offering timings to suit my child-care needs and, of course, living locally means less time and expense travelling.

I’m part of a study group that I revised with for exams, which really broadened my understanding of the material. The lecturers are enthusiastic and approachable, and I like the structure of lectures followed by seminars, thereby applying our knowledge to the material. I also enjoy the extra-curricular activities that are available, for example interview practice and mooting. The additional practical skills acquired during these activities are really attractive to an employer.

I love how international and vibrant Oxford is, to live, study and work. It’s a city with all the facilities you could need, close to London but also surrounded by countryside and with an identity all of its own.
