Tori Hill has a natural enthusiasm for objective argument and reasoning, and is happiest when striving to achieve. She is studying for her LLB, and is one of the volunteers on the Brookes Pro Bono scheme. Tori eventually hopes to pursue her goal of a career as a criminal barrister.

I chose to study Law because in one way or another it influences all aspects of our lives, continually evolving to reflect our constantly developing society.

I wanted to come to Brookes because it has a good reputation for employability. If you want a career straight after university you need to be employable, and after thorough research I decided Brookes offered everything I was looking for in a university. It’s well known for its staff dedication, and provides you not only with subject information but also other skills you thought you never had, but are invaluable later in life.

I’m looking forward to participating in mooting, debating and pro bono activities, and am involved with the student-led pro bono scheme at the university. I currently volunteer for Asylum welcome; it costs nothing to share my time and the skills I’ve learned. I’m also part of the advocacy team, which will help me develop skills that I need to pursue a career as a barrister whilst doing something that could make a difference to someone’s life.

There is a great work/life balance at Brookes, and Oxford is a stunning city which caters really well for its students. The law department is constantly improving and you’re provided with all the skills you need to pursue a very successful career; the rest is down to you.
