Tafadzwa Ncube

Tafadzwa Ncube applied to study Law at Oxford Brookes to embark a career driven by passion.

I had been working in retail for about 6 years and really wasn’t passionate about it. There is a lot of crime and corruption in this world and I always said that if I ever got the chance to save at least one person’s life, and change it for the better, then I would do it and I believe that studying law is the first step to that goal. I hope to one day become a solicitor and go on to inspire other aspiring lawyers.

I loved the fact that this course gave me the opportunity to engage in academic debates with my fellow students. This helped me to put across my own point of view and certainly increased my confidence. Skills that I’ve gained in exercises such as client interviews and pleas in mitigations will also be attractive to employers.

My classmates were always very supportive; sharing notes or helping others to understand or clarify particularly challenging areas of law. I found all the members of staff to be very helpful, particularly Andrew Kopkin, Marc Howe, Sonia Morano-Foadi, Brigitte Clark, Jeff Young and Lucy Floyd. There were always there whenever I needed them, encouraging me to be the best that I can be. I am forever grateful to them; please keep up the good work and keep inspiring future Brookes students!

Life in Oxford is very enjoyable, there are plenty of social activities to keep you entertained and it is a multi-cultural city, which gives me the chance to meet and interact with people from various parts of the world.

Although I am a home student, I am originally from Zimbabwe, and I would tell any potential students thinking of studying at Oxford Brookes, that this is one of the best universities. I believe that it has the best teaching facilities and you will never be lonely because students here are like a close-knit family. You will love being in Oxford, so go for it!

I really enjoyed my time at Oxford Brookes, it has been a great challenge but I have loved every minute of it and I would not change a thing. I have met some amazing people and formed some great friendships. The course was tough at first but with hard work and a lot of dedication, it became easier.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the lecturers and everyone at the department for all their help and patience, it’s greatly appreciated.
