Feedback and dialogue in multi-disciplinary settings: local perspectives

Jill Millar, Jane Spiro, Hilary Rollin and Sally Davis

Assessment feedback is an important learning tool, and in order to benefit from it students need to engage with it. Drawing on findings from an HEA funded FDTL project, this presentation will suggest that dialogue based feedback methods can have a significant impact on student engagement, where engagement is understood as valuing and responding positively to feedback. The methods discussed have been trialled across a variety of different disciplines and modules, and as such have implications for feedback practice across Oxford Brookes. As part of the presentation, staff perspectives on the methods, and the methods themselves, will be briefly described.
