General Osteopathic Council visit the School of Health and Social Care

The Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) Tim Walker and Marcus Dyer visited the school on 14 March 2011.
Dr Ann Ewens, Head of Department of Sport and Health Sciences and Dr Phil Harper, Programme Lead for Osteopathy welcomed the visitors. They met with Osteopathy staff and students and the agenda included an overview of the programme by the Bachelor of Osteopathy (BOst) and the Master of Osteopathy (MOst) course leaders and by Peter Bradley, Associate Dean for Student Experience. An outline of the school's Osteopathy Research Strategy was given by the programme's research lead. The visitors were given a tour of the Marston Road site which included the clinical skills suites and the Placement Learning Unit. Their day also included a visit to the school's Osteopathic Clinic at Mill Court, Headington where they received an overview of the clinic from the Practice Education Lead.
CEO Tim Walker who has recently joined the GOsC, thanked the school for a very informative and enjoyable day.
Dr Ann Ewens said ‘It was a great opportunity to share with GOsC our vision for Osteopathy and it was clear that both Tim [Walker] and Marcus [Dyer] left with a good impression of the excellent work that is being undertaken here at Oxford Brookes.’
