A study from academics at Oxford Brookes has identified new strategies to support stressed social workers.
This year we have added the new module 'U48840: Working with Teams, Groups and Communities' to our Social Work programme.
The 4th Placement of the Year Awards Ceremony was held on the 28th of June, in The Lounge, John Henry Brookes Building at Headington Campus to celebrate excellence in student placement provision by health and social care service providers.
Postgraduate Certificate in Child Protection Practice
In the Guardian University Guide 2013 our Social Work provision has been ranked 2nd in the country. This is fantastic news which reflects the hard work of our social work team.
Two second year BA Social Work students, Nadia Shakourian and Lucy Takawira recently completed their Private, Volunteer and Independent (PVI) sector placement at Bromford Support, a housing scheme for people with learning disabilities. They worked with support worker, Paula Monteiro helping her clients access the Mates ‘N’ Dates service, a specialist dating and friendship agency for adults with learning disabilities in Oxfordshire. Paula sent praise to the Agency Co-ordinator on the students’ input and professionalism.
Dr Sally Richards and Maxine Fletcher, Social Work Senior Lecturers from the School of Health and Social Care, together with representatives from the school's Voices of Experience forum presented papers at the inaugural European Conference For Social Work Research held on 23 - 25 March 2011 at St Catherine's College, Oxford. The conference was entitled ‘Social Work and Social Care Research: Innovation, Interdisciplinarity and Impact’ and was held in association with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School for Social Care Research.
