  • Transition to first-time motherhood
  • Transition to first-time motherhood: the next generation

    • Are you expecting your first baby, or do you know someone who is?
    • Would you be happy to share your experiences of becoming a mum for the first time?
    • Can you spare an hour or so to be interviewed before your baby is born and then again during the first year?

    The Study

Twenty years ago Tina Miller conducted a study on first-time Motherhood. The findings from this research were published in a book called Making Sense of Motherhood .
Tina is now collecting a new generation of women’s experiences of becoming a mother to see what (if anything) has changed.

If you join the study you will be interviewed three times. The interviews will last around an hour or so and will take place once before the baby is born (when you are between 7 and 8 months pregnant) and then twice during the baby’s first year.

Interviews will be arranged at a time and place convenient to you. Any expenses incurred will be reimbursed.

For further details about the study please refer to this information sheet .

If you are interested in taking part in the study please contact Tina Miller at or call 07706 898615.
