a well-rounded academic and theoretical base which could be applied within a number of career paths

Since finishing the course Farhom Shah has been involved in fundraising for disaster relief efforts and voluntary teaching abroad and in the UK. He has just started a six month internship in London in the charity sector.

In the charity, education and other similar sectors a critical understanding of policy as well as sound research‐based credentials are increasingly desired. The MA provided these to a high standard, giving a well-rounded academic and theoretical base which could be applied within a number of career paths.

I was immediately attracted to the programme at Brookes for several reasons. Firstly, the strong social science emphasis and ESRC-recognised research modules for their value in a number of future career options and secondly, the impressive choice of modules compared to those on offer at other institutions.

One of the huge benefits of studying in Oxford, was the breadth of talks available throughout the academic year, both within the department and at other Oxford University and London Colleges. For me these were an important addition to the course for they enabled theoretical aspects and contemporary international and global issues to be considered much more broadly and definitely enhanced my master’s degree.
