After deciding to major in Geography, I had the opportunity to take part in the Undergraduate Research Conference, at which I presented a poster to discuss the fieldwork project I undertook in Malta. This gave me the opportunity to talk about my work and to answer questions put to me by students and academics which was great as it helped to bring my findings to a wider audience

Starting University as a mature student at Oxford Brookes has been a fantastic experience. The flexible modular style allowed me to design the degree around my strengths and interests.

After deciding to major in Geography, I had the opportunity to take part in the Undergraduate Research Conference, at which I presented a poster to discuss the fieldwork project I undertook in Malta. This gave me the opportunity to talk about my work and to answer questions put to me by students and academics which was great as it helped to bring my findings to a wider audience. This also turned out to be an ideal opportunity to reflect on my study and prepare For my third year dissertation, where I travelled to the Cairngorms to conduct an independent study on the future of skiing in Scotland.

I have developed research and presentation skills over the past three years, which I know employers will value. This has been possible thanks to the great team of dedicated lecturers at Brookes who are passionate about their subject areas and who encourage students to push the boundaries. I would recommend to anyone that they take the next step and come to Brookes. The confidence and satisfaction this has given me makes all the hard work worthwhile. I loved it so much that I am now considering returning to complete a Masters.
