Moving the Prayer and Quiet Room

Staff moves

From 20 August 2015 until early 2016, the Prayer and Quiet Room will be located in the Clerici building, just opposite the main entrance, to the left of the Main Lecture Theatre.

Formerly the site of the Blackwell’s bookshop, and more recently the staff office for a summer school, the new space is only the temporary home of the Prayer and Quiet Room. To make way for new laboratories in the former Galiano’s/Sinclair annex building, the Academic Office and Prayer and Quiet Room will eventually have a new home in the Buckley building. From early 2016, the ground floor of the Buckley building will be open to students and staff where there will be a purpose built prayer and quiet room as part of the Chaplaincy. This is alongside facilities for other Wellbeing services; including Counselling, Disability and Dyslexia Services.

But from 20 August, the temporary Prayer and Quiet room in Clerici will be open to people of all or no faiths. It is a large, carpeted, room to be equipped with storage cupboards for religious items, information and community notice boards and dividers. It is a secluded space in a central location and can be booked for religious observances and services. Contact the Chaplaincy for more information.
