What's happening on site

  • The Western Access Road is now complete
  • Furniture and Library shelving is now being installed
  • Teaching rooms are completed, including the new audiovisual hardware
  • The corten steel Colonnade is complete, with only the entrance panels on the piazza floor to be installed

What you need to know

 

Everybody

  • The removal of construction site offices in January 2014 will require some preparatory work to allow for a crane to be erected at the main entrance
  • This will impact on visitor and staff parking and on access to the Main Reception
  • On the weekend of Saturday 11 to Monday 13 January the entire Main Reception will be closed
  • Please look for detailed information in future notices and in the next edition of Onstream on Wednesday 18 December 2013
  • A section of the piazza entrance is expected to open before Christmas giving improved access across the campus
  • There is no bike parking available outside the Media Centre, this provision has now moved to the front of Buckley
  • Deliveries to the Print Room, International Centre and Tonge must still be notified to the building contractor - please contact spacetothink@brookes.ac.uk for further info

 

Sinclair and Abercrombie

  • The construction site offices will be emptied of contents from Monday 16 December and the services deinstalled
  • This may cause some noise disruption until Friday 20 December from workforce communication or use of hand tools
  • There will be concrete breaking in the Central Courtyard from Monday 6 January 2014 to prepare for the removal of the facilities
  • This work is not expected to continue for more than a few days but will cause noise disruption to nearby building users

 

International and Media Centres

  • Construction of the cycle shelter between the International and Media Centres are expected to continue for three weeks
  • Both the timber roof and remaining wall construction may cause noise disruption to nearby building users

 

Gibbs and John Payne

  • The installation of a new contractor office site in the Gibbs courtyard may cause brief disruption to nearby building users
  • Concrete breaking on Friday 20 December is likely to be noisy, as is the installation of new service trenches to the offices
  • The offices will be connected up over Christmas and are not expected to impact on users in the New Year
