  • Pedestrian access between Headington Road and Cheney School field remains diverted via the path at the rear of International Centre and Tonge

Gibbs and John Payne

  • Excavation behind Gibbs will continue through August
  • This work is likely to cause some noise and vibration disruption to nearby building users
  • There will be a continued increase in HGV traffic using the road from Fuller to Gibbs and John Payne
  • Please take care when using the pedestrian crossing in this area and listen carefully to instructions from construction staff

Buckley and Abercrombie

  • A mobile crane has been erected on the site of the piazza and will create background engine noise throughout the rest of the summer
  • When paving work begins in late August, trimming of stone may cause some erratic disruption from hand tool use

Sinclair

  • The remainder of works in this area should be low impact on nearby building users as paving and landscaping is completed

Tonge

  • The newly paved slope outside Tonge is expected to open in the second half of next week

International Centre

  • A change of access to the International Centre will take place once the newly paved slope outside Tonge is opened
  • When active, this change will provide building access from the direction of Cheney School field, via the new slope
  • Concrete breaking and excavation will continue in the areas in front and to the side of the International Centre
  • This work is expected to cause disruption to building users through August and will be followed by paving works
  • The building entrance has been reduced to a single door but access will be maintained at all times, occasionally managed by construction staff

Media Centre

  • Access to the Media Centre will change during the next week
  • A dedicated path will provide building access, but no through route to other buildings
  • The ramped staircase leading to the print room shutter doors will also be closed, and any print deliveries will need advance arrangement
  • It is expected that a day of severe disruption to users of the Media Centre will result from programmed concrete breaking in the near future
  • Users will be notified in advance of the schedule for this work when confirmed
  • Concrete breaking will continue between the Media Centre and International Centre and close to the Media Centre entrance
  • Media Centre users will continue to experience noise and vibration disturbance throughout August
