Expected programme of works from 18 October 2013 to 22 October

What's happening on site

  • The corten steel Colonnade is well underway along the building's piazza entrance
  • Paving on the piazza has begun
  • The first area of new paving has been opened outside Tonge and towards the International Centre
  • Lighting is active across the building
  • The final joinery finishes (e.g. counter tops, wall panels) are being installed

What you need to know

Everybody

  • Minor alterations to the footpath to the Media Centre, International Centre and Tonge will take place between now and November
  • Building access will not be affected
  • The bike parking outside the Media Centre will be closed at the end of October, with replacement spaces installed outside Buckley building
  • Deliveries to the Print Room, International Centre and Tonge will need to be arranged in advance - please contact

Gibbs and John Payne

  • Paving work behind Gibbs is expected to complete this week
  • Tarmac work in the road between these two buildings will take place at the end of October for no more than one week
  • Grinding, cutting and excavation work may cause erratic disruption to nearby building users

Buckley and Abercrombie

  • New bike parking will be installed close to the building entrance by the end of the month

Sinclair

  • Finishes applied to the courtyard close to Sinclair will require some occasional drilling of block work and may cause minor disruption
  • This work is expected to complete by the end of the month

Tonge and International Centre

  • The stairs between these two buildings are expected to be reopened before the end of the month
  • The steps at the front of Tonge are expected to be opened next week
  • Paving work outside the International Centre will continue through October and may cause minor disruption from trimming equipment and hand tools

Media Centre

  • Excavation work on the site of the bike parking loops next to the building will take place before the end of the month
  • This work may cause some noise disruption to building users
  • As part of the paving work, access to the building may need to be closed for up to two days, though advance notice will be given
  • This work will be programmed for non-working hours if possible
