UPDATE [04/12/13]: 

  • The path between Media Centre and International Centre will now close from 8am Thursday 5 to 6pm Friday 6 December 

 

 

What’s happening on site 

  • The first Library shelving is now being assembled and installed
  • External lighting is being erected along the Western Access Road
  • The building’s WiFi coverage was turned on this week and is up and running
  • Teaching rooms are completed, including new audiovisual hardware
  • The corten steel Colonnade is close to completion along the building’s piazza entrance

What you need to know

Everybody

  • The path between Media Centre and International Centre will close on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December
  • This is to allow for a mobile crane to install the steelwork frame of the new cycle shelter between the buildings
  • A section of the piazza entrance will open giving access to Abercrombie and the central courtyard within the next two weeks
  • There is no bike parking available outside the Media Centre, this provision has now moved to the front of Buckley
  • Deliveries to the Print Room, International Centre and Tonge will need to be arranged in advance – please contact spacetothink@brookes.ac.uk for further info
 

Sinclair and Abercrombie

  • The construction site offices will be emptied of contents from Monday 16 December and the services deinstalled
  • This may cause some noise disruption until Friday 20 December from workforce communication or use of hand tools
  • There may be further preparation work for the removal of the site offices which involve higher impact work – any information will be provided in this notice when confirmed
  • The installation of cladding panels to the rear of the JHBB lecture theatre will require the use of high-reach equipment that may cause engine noise
 

Tonge and International Centre

  • There will be no access to these buildings via the path from Headington Road on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December
  • This is to allow for a mobile crane to install the steel frame of the new cycle shelter between the buildings
  • Following this work, construction of the timber roof and remaining wall structures will begin on Monday 9 December and are expected to continue for three weeks
  • Both of these operations may cause noise disruption to nearby building users
  • The stairs between these two buildings have been reopened
  • Final paving work opposite the International Centre and Tonge may cause minor disruption from trimming equipment and hand tools
 

Media Centre

  • The path leading towards International Centre and Tonge will close on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 December
  • This is to allow for a mobile crane to install the steel frame of the new cycle shelter between the buildings
  • Following this work, construction of the timber roof and remaining wall structures will begin on Monday 9 December and are expected to continue for three weeks
  • Both of these operations may cause noise disruption to nearby building users
  • Paving work will continue in this area through the beginning of December
  • This work may cause noise disruption to building users from trimming equipment and hand tools
 

Gibbs and John Payne

  • Finishing work in these areas may cause occasional incidents of minor noise
