  • Any staff member can nominate any other staff member or team.
Those nominating an individual or team should give as much detail as possible when completing the nomination form. Please give specific examples to illustrate why you think your nominee merits an award. Bear in mind that not all the members of the judging panel will be familiar with all the areas of the University. For a detailed example read our sample nomination forms on the nomination page.
Details of the nominee's line manager are needed to notify them of the nomination. If you don't know who the line manager of the colleague or team you want to nominate is please contact Human Resources on ext 5770 /

Nominations tend to take less than five minutes to complete.
Nominations must be received by the Brookes People Awards Team by 27 March 2020 **DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 17 APRIL 2020**. All those who have been nominated will receive an email congratulating them on their nomination and a certificate. In April to May 2020 the judging panel will choose and announce a shortlist of up to five nominations per category. The panel will also choose who receives the final awards.
You are welcome to make as many nominations as you would like.
A judging panel of staff from different roles and levels across the University will make these decisions as part of a transparent and fair process. For details of this process please see the Nomination and judging process page.
Staff who are shortlisted will be invited to our awards ceremony which will be held on 7 September 2020 where the final winners will be announced. The shortlist will be publicised on the scheme webpages, through Staff Update and in displays around the University.
Before you make your nomination, take some time to remind yourselves of the guiding principles and what they look like in practice. Further information and video examples of the guiding principles can be found on the guiding principles web pages.
Following feedback we understand that some nominators wish to remain anonymous in the early stages of the process. You can specify this on the form. There is also an option to be notified before any of your nomination text is used on communications for the awards. If your nomination is longlisted we will contact you to ask if this can be waived in the interest of the promotion of your nomination.

The Brookes People Awards are about recognising all staff across the organisation. This includes staff who work at Brookes while employed by our cleaning provider. This also applies to staff employed by our catering and security providers.
We had positive feedback from staff in 2018 so the ceremony and reception will follow a similar format in 2020.
