The Undergraduate Confirmation Forum (UCF) acts as a forum for the communication of information and as a tribunal to ensure necessary information is provided.
1. A student who is hoping to change subjects must be judged in the first instance against the criteria for his or her current subject(s). However, if a SEC has decided to allow a subject change into one of its subjects it should make an alternative recommendation based on the new subject(s).
2. Where an Exceptional Circumstances Panel (ECP) agrees a claim for exceptional circumstances, this decision will be reported to the relevant SEC. SECs should strive for consistency in the award of the DR grade or the requirement for a student to do further work by awarding an uncapped resit.
3. The award of credit for previous study should be a matter for a SEC, but the award should be on the basis of the University’s Policy and Procedures and the UMP Regulations and Guidelines.
Credit should only be awarded where an appropriate Higher Education Institution has provided information on the amount, level and nature of the learning outcomes achieved or the SEC itself has overseen the assessment of a student’s prior or concurrent learning.
- The SEC should be able to advise a student admitted with credit how the Appendix to the Regulations applies to him or her. The Chair of UCF acts for UCF in confirming or clarifying this when necessary.
4. Academic Appeals - for details regarding the Academic Appeals process.
For further details of the review process, please consult the University Regulations C3 Academic Appeals regulations (PDF).
