Gateway process

  • The Brookes project management framework has been designed to incorporate a Gateway at each key decision stage of the project lifecycle.

At each Gateway the project presents specified information and seeks approval to proceed to the next Stage.

At each Gateway the board will make a decision to either

    • give approval to proceed to next Stage
    • defer and specify further information be provided
    • not proceed and to close the project

The Gateway process helps ensure that all parties agree that the project remains strategically aligned and worth continued investment and effort to define, plan and deliver.  Allowing projects to continue without checking this at key points can result in wasted time and effort for Project Managers and their teams.

The Project Toolkit has guidance notes for each Gateway to remind Project Boards of the key matters to consider at each:.
