The Highlight Report is part of Stage 4: Delivery of the project lifecycle and working towards approval at Gateway 4: Readiness for service.
The Project Manager is responsible for the preparation and production of the Highlight Report. The Project Manager should actively engage with the core project team and other key stakeholders to produce this report. Before going to the Board for approval, the Project Manager must obtain the Project Sponsor/Executive sign-off.
A Highlight Report is used to provide the Board with a high-level summary of key information on the project set at a specified time period. The regularity of the reports should be agreed with the Board and the Project Manager. It is usual for a Highlight Report to be produced on a monthly basis. A requirement for a weekly report will be dependent upon the severity and complexity of the project.
The appointed Board will review the information and make an informed decision as to the progress of the project.
