  • The Project Brief is part of Stage 1: Concept of the project lifecycle and working towards approval at Gateway 1: Strategic alignment

    Who prepares the Project Brief?

The Project Manager is responsible for the preparation and production of the Project Brief. The Project Manager must actively engage with key stakeholders to gather the relevant input to support the Project Brief. Before going to the Board for approval, the Project Manager must obtain the Project Sponsor/Executive sign-off.

What is the purpose of the Project Brief?

The Project Brief is the output from the Project Manager to articulate the concept of a business idea. The main objective is to produce sufficient information to define and scope the business idea and to create a vision of its importance as a project to meet a specified business need.  The appointed Board will review the information and make an informed decision on its fit with organisational priorities and strategic alignment.
