Stress risk assessment involves looking at current practice in relation to the HSE Management Standards and determining whether enough has been done to manage the risk or whether more needs to be done.
A stress risk assessment can be undertaken with an individual or team and can be a formal process using a Stress Risk Assessment Form (Word doc), or an informal discussion using the standards as a guide. If you use an informal assessment, you should still make a record of the outcomes.
The Occupational Health (OH) Department has also developed a team-based approach to assessing stress risks where stress is specifically attributed to work, in hot spot areas. The aim is to identify and inform managers about the pressures employees are under and to enable the teams to propose solutions for mangers to consider. Contact OH for more information.
