Academic Enhancement Retreats provide a dedicated time and supported space for you to fully engage with the process of designing, writing and creating the detailed resources and activities that you will use within your programmes or modules.
Each retreat is supported by an Educational Developer from the Oxford Centre for Academic Enhancement and Development (OCAED) and will start with a brief activity that enables you to set your own goals, frame the way in which you will use the retreat, and kick-start your creative processes. The rest of the retreat is yours to work in a quiet, shared space.
There will be opportunities, if you want them, to share your ideas, activities and resources with ‘critical friends’ who will offer you some feedback, or to work through ‘writers block’ in a creative space with an Educational Developer.
By the end of the Academic Enhancement Retreat, you should:
- be fully immersed in the creative design process
- have developed a series of resources and activities for use in the teaching, learning and assessment of your modules to take away with you
- drawn up and a plan of action that will help you to complete your resources for use in the learning environment.
