• Google Meet appointments

For the safety of staff and students, Centre for Academic Development appointments are currently conducted using Google Meet. This page tells you how it works.

    Before the appointment

If there is a particular piece of work you wish to discuss, please email it to academicdev@brookes.ac.uk before your appointment. We will not have looked at it before your appointment, but it will save time if we can access it quickly. Alternatively, if you have a version of your assignment in google docs, you can share that with your tutor during the appointment.

    1. To make Google Meet work well, you will need to use the Google Chrome browser. It can be downloaded for both PCs and Macs if you don’t already have it.
    2. Log into your university email account. If you are using a shared computer, or have other google accounts in addition to your Brookes one, it may be worth using the incognito window option to ensure that you are definitely accessing the meeting with your Brookes ID. You can see how to do that in this demonstration video.
    3. Open the email you received from Centre for Academic Development and click on the link we sent you.
    4. If you have not used Google Meet before, Google will ask for access to your camera and microphone. Click yes when prompted and finally click on the 'Join meeting button' and the tutorial will begin.
