    • Most students work part time as a way of supplementing their income. Generally it is advisable to limit your employment to 15 hours each week.

    • A National Insurance Number (NI No) is needed to apply for work in the UK. You can apply for this by telephoning the Jobcentre Plus NI Allocation Service on 0845 600 0643.
    • Most part time work is paid by the hour and employers in the UK must pay at least the National Minimum Wage.
    • Most international students are allowed to work part time in the UK during their studies, but it is essential to check that your immigration status/visa allows you to do this. There are restrictions on the number of hours you can work and in the type of work you can do. Generally, you can work up to twenty hours per week during term time and full time over the summer.
