  • Graduates eligible for the UK 2020 ceremony will already have received an invitation letter. You will need to register for your graduation ceremony if you would like to attend.

How do I register for my ceremony?

Once registration is open, you will be sent an email invitation with a registration form attached. You need to complete the form and return it to us via email by the deadline.

    Cancelling your registration

    • If you are unable to attend your ceremony for any reason, then please let us know as soon as possible so that we can allocate your place to another graduate.
    • You can cancel by emailing us at accagraduation@brookes.ac.uk.
    • If you cancel by the date given, we can refund your guest tickets, deposits and gown hire.

Once you have registered, you will be sent a confirmation letter via email which will provisionally offer you a place and provide further information about the ceremony. Ticket sales will open once you have registered for the ceremony.

    I am bringing guests

If you are bringing guests to the ceremony, tickets must be purchased (prices to be confirmed).

You can purchase your guest tickets via the Oxford Brookes Online Shop once sales are open.

After you have registered your place, you can purchase guest tickets.

    • Each graduate is allowed 2 guests tickets in the ceremony hall and up to 3 additional tickets for either the Family Room or Live Video Link Room.
    • Ticket prices to be confirmed.
    • You don't need a guest ticket for yourself but you should still obtain a free Graduate Ticket from the Online Shop.

How do I purchase my tickets?

You will need to purchase your guest tickets via the Oxford Brookes Online Shop. If this is your first transaction through the Online Shop, you will have to register as a new user. Tickets will be available for collection on the day of your ceremony.

When can I purchase my deposit/tickets?

Ticket sales will open several months before the event.

Graduation is a ceremonial event and we encourage all of our graduates to wear full academic dress (a gown, hood and mortar board). It's not compulsory, but most graduates do and it is one of the things that makes graduation such a special day!

    • You can hire or buy a gown in advance with Ede & Ravenscroft.
    • Prices vary but hire begins from £41 for Foundation/Undergraduate gowns; £46 for Masters gowns and up to £54 for PhD gowns. It is usually more expensive to buy a gown than to hire one.

    How do I hire/buy a gown?

You can pre-order from the Ede & Ravenscroft website or by calling +44 (0)1223 861 854. If you're unable to pre-book a gown, you can hire one on the day of your graduation.

When and where can I pick up my gown?

    • You can pick up your gown or hire one on the day in the Clerici Building, 2 hours before your ceremony starts.
    • Staff from Ede & Ravenscoft will be on hand to help you put your gown on correctly and give you your 'Class of 2020' pin badge.
    • Don't forget to have your order number with you.

What is the dress code for me and my guests?

Whether you are wearing a gown or not wearing a gown, the dress code remains the same. We would ask that you dress smartly or you can wear traditional/religious clothing.

Photographers can take an individual portrait of you as well as photographs with family members and friends. When you order your gown, you will also be offered available photography options for your ceremony as a part of your order.

    How do I pre-book photography?

You can pre-order your photography package in advance from the Ede & Ravenscroft website or by calling +44 (0)1223 861 854. If you're unable to pre-book, you can visit a photography studio on the day of your graduation.

    Where are the photographs studios?

    • The photograph studios will be on the second floor of the John Henry Brookes Building.
    • Don't forget to have your order number with you.

Having your gown on in your photographs

    • You can only pick up your gown 2 hours before your ceremony start time. If you would like your gown to be in your photos, we recommend pre-booking or dropping in after your ceremony.

If you require a visa to travel to Oxford, you can request a visa support letter from us after you have registered and purchased your guest tickets (if you are bringing guests). Please email us with the name(s) and relationship to you of your guests once you have made your purchase.

Please note that it is your responsibility to check that you have made all the necessary arrangements for entry to UK.

Certificates are not issued at the ceremony. They are sent to you by post within 3 months of your award date. Please email certificates@brookes.ac.uk if you have not received your certificate within this timescale.
If you have any special requirements, for example wheelchair access or seating near an exit, please email us at accagraduation@brookes.ac.uk.
Professional photographers and videographers will be at the ceremony and the reception. If you or your guests do not wish to be photographed, please let them know on the day.
