The International Student Advice Team (ISAT) organises social events and trips to enhance the international student experience at Oxford Brookes.
The programme for September to December 2020 is displayed below. We will regularly update the programme, with more events and details.
Do you want to practice and improve you English conversation skills in a friendly environment? Join us to talk about interesting topics and to stay connected! There is no commitment, feel free to drop in when you are available.
Focusing on British literature, the ISAT British Book Club will help you make friends and learn about Oxford & the UK through fiction!
This is an informal book club, where everyone is welcome. We encourage you to read the books in English, but this is not essential – reading the same story, whatever the language, is the most important! The discussion will be held in English. You are welcome to join one session, a couple of sessions, or all of them – it’s up to you!
If we have enough time, we will also talk about our favourite titles, share tips on the best places to buy books, and have conversations about literature in general.
We want to give you the flexibility to join at the last minute, consequently it is not necessary to register in advance to join a session. However, if you know for sure you’ll come, it would be helpful if you could send an email to
email@example.com to let us know.
There will be 4 sessions, see table below.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion,
the Witch and the Wardrobe, CS Lewis.

Join us for an interactive event! Each session will start with a short 10min presentation about the topic of the day, and this will be followed by a Q&A during which you'll have the opportunity to ask questions to one of Brookes' current students and our International Student Adviser Elly.
Special guest: on Friday 18 September, the president of the Brookes' Chinese Society will be joining us!

More details will be provided on the New Students website.
Join one of our current Brookes students and Sally, Head of ISAT, for an informal chat. This session will give you a chance to ask any question you may have about starting at Brookes and will be a great opportunity to meet other international students.
From bus queue etiquette to the rules of politeness, this session will help you avoid cultural faux pas and better understand how to interact with people in the UK.
