    The International Student Advice Team (ISAT) provides resources and online activities for international students who want to stay connected to the Brookes Community when they are not in Oxford and/or need support during a quarantine/self-isolation period.

    Get a cup of tea/coffee and join us for this informal session, which will be an opportunity to share tips on how to adjust to living in the UK whilst being in quarantine. Solenn, our Events Coordinator, will share her experience (she has done 3 quarantines herself over the past year) and tell you about the help you can get from ISAT during your quarantine.

    Our amazing tour guide Rob Tanner is hosting online interactive sessions for students who have to quarantine (other students are welcome to join too!). In this "discovering Oxford and the UK after your quarantine" session, he will give you tips and tell you about all the things you will be able to do and discover after your quarantine period. There will be a Q&A (Question & Answer), to give you the opportunity to chat with Rob and ask him questions.

    • Do an online course. The British Council offers lots of interesting short courses and you can access most of them for free.

    • Take photos with your phone - watch this video by 5 Minutes Crafts and experiment! 
    The International Student Advice team organises live online activities during term time - check out the ISAT Social Event pages. We also have a couple of visa and Brexit workshops every semester - keep an eye on our Facebook page and Instagram account for information regarding upcoming workshops.
    Brookes' Careers organises workshops every week during term time, such as "Introduction to CVs and Cover Letters" and "How to Ace a Video Interview". Information can be found on their social media, on their website and on JobTeaser.
  • Stay connected

    Global Buddies
    Join the  Global Buddies programme as a Buddy or a Mentor. If you miss the deadline and would like to chat with a current Brookes student during a self-isolation period, please email global-buddies@brookes.ac.uk. We will try to put you in touch with one of our Global Buddies Mentors.

    Student Connect
    Student Connect is a tool to help you make contact with another student who shares one of your interests. It is run by the Multifaith Chaplaincy. More information in this Student News article.

    Brookes Isolation Station
    Brookes Isolation Station is a Facebook group created by Brookes Union. "From reading positive news and practical wellbeing tips to sharing home workouts and store cupboard recipes, to joining in on weekly quizzes, watch parties, competitions and viral video challenges"

    Brookes Multifaith Chaplaincy activities
    The Chaplaincy organises regular online events, such as mass, Crafternoon and meditation. Follow the Chaplaincy Facebook page for the most up-to-date events and tips!

    Manage your wellbeing

    Have a schedule
    Having a quarantine/sef-isolation schedule and a healthy routine will have a positive impact on your wellbeing. Consider the following elements when creating your schedule: eating healthy, socialising, studying, doing some physical exercise, learning something new, taking time to do things you enjoy. We also recommend you get ready every morning even if you can't to leave the house. Read this article from Metro for tips on how to create a routine during lockdown (applicable to a quaratine/self-isolation period).

    Brookes Wellbeing website
    Several Brookes student support teams have come together to create a great website packed with useful information to better manage your physical and mental wellbeing.

    Student blog posts
    The #WeAreInternational Student Ambassadors (international students) share their tips to look after their mental health and wellbeing on the UKCISA blog. A student from Vietnam studying in the UK has also written a blog post about the things he did to look after his mental health during the first UK lockdown. They all offer some really useful advice so do check out these articles!
