Second-year Events Management students planned and hosted a series of 11 events, including the return of the ever-popular Brookes Union Christmas Market, to kick off the festive activities at Oxford Brookes.

The week of activities kicked off with a Christmas Pub Quiz on Thursday 23 November. Other highlights included the first Brookes Live Lounge which featured live music and talent from all areas of the University. There was also a full day of fashion events featuring a retro threads exhibition, an eco fashion show and a Black Tie Fashion event in The Terrace, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus. There was further entertainment on offer with a special Christmas Cinema screening of ‘Love Actually’, a festive Murder Mystery ‘Whodunnit’, the Throwback Silent Disco and Mingle Bell Rock, a networking evening that took place in Taylor’s Yard, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus.

The Christmas Market featured a whole range of arts, crafts, cards, handmade fabrics and more, along with festive food and entertainment. For the first time the students worked with Discover Ethos, a company founded by Brookes alumni, who brought along a number of eco-traders who specialise in sustainable gifts and products.

This was all topped off with a bit of glamour, courtesy of the Christmas Masquerade Ball at The Varsity Club on Thursday 2 December.

In addition to this the students had visits from our four-legged friends at Guide Dogs and the Multifaith Chaplaincy with the Oxford Brookes University and Community Choir and Orchestra, and the Brookes Union Fortune Singers with an evening of celebration in words and music.
