Oxford buses in city centre

To support students who need to travel home by public transport for the festive period, the University has partnered with Oxford Bus Company to provide free coach travel to Oxford Train Station this weekend.

A free coach service, leaving from a number of our halls of residences and travelling to Oxford Train Station, will be available to students this Saturday and Sunday (5 and 6 December).

The service is available to all Oxford Brookes students and the full schedule of coaches can be found here.

To check for availability and to book your seat, please visit the Oxford Bus Company website. You will need to fill out the online form by 5.00pm on Friday 4 December. You will receive a confirmation email which you will need to show to the coach driver, and which will also provide details on your use of the service.

Students using the free coach service will need to follow national guidance on the use of public transport and should continue to do so on their onward journey. This includes the wearing of face coverings, unless you are exempt. Further information on the measures Oxford Bus Company has put in place to ensure its services are Covid-secure can be found on their website.

Please also remember that you should only travel home:

  • Once the national restrictions currently in place have been lifted, and ideally during the designated student travel window of 3-9 December;
  • Once your face-to-face teaching requirements have been completed;
  • At a time when you are not displaying any potential symptoms of Covid-19, OR if you have received a negative Covid-19 test result.

You should not return to your permanent, home address before 3 December as the UK remains under national lockdown restrictions.

Further guidance and support for travelling home can also be found on the Student News webpages.
