We are pleased to announce that the University has achieved its three year re-certification accreditation for our Environmental Management System (EMS).
The ISO 14001 international standard sets the requirements for an effective EMS and follows a six day audit led by the Environmental Sustainability Team.
The EMS creates a framework to deliver our environmental compliance obligations and continually improve environmental performance across our campuses and Oxford Brookes managed halls of residence.
Michele Morley, Oxford Brookes’ Environmental Sustainability Manager, commented:
“This is a fantastic result for the University that reaffirms our ongoing commitment to improving environmental performance and engagement with the wider sustainability agenda. We achieved no non-conformances for the second year in a row, and demonstrated several areas of best practice. I would like to thank all members of staff and our students who contribute their time and expertise throughout the year to this critical agenda.”
It is also recognised there is always room for improvement and we have various new workstreams to be delivered this academic year.
The University will be launching the Green Impact sustainability engagement program in early 2021, in partnership with the National Union of Students. We are looking for volunteers to act as Sustainability Champions across all faculties and directorates, who in collaboration with the Environmental Sustainability Team can deliver positive change.
