You may have seen news reports of an incident in London which has left a young woman, Sasha Johnson, critically injured. This is a really shocking situation and our thoughts are with Sasha's family and friends. Sasha played a prominent role in the organisation of Black Lives Matter events in Oxford last summer, and you will have seen our statement on 25 May expressing solidarity with the importance of that movement.
A number of you have contacted us to ask about Sasha’s welfare, following reports in the media that Sasha studied at Oxford Brookes. However, those references to Oxford Brookes were incorrect: Sasha in fact graduated from another institution and has not studied at Oxford Brookes.
Whilst we wouldn’t usually give information on a student or alumni’s status for data protection reasons, we know that the incident has been worrying for our Brookes community and wanted to clarify the situation. If you have been affected please contact Wellbeing for support.
The Met Police is asking for help to find those responsible for the incident. If you have any information, please phone 101 or contact @CrimestoppersUK quoting reference CAD 1172/23MAY
