Volunteers’ Week: 1 - 7 June 2021

21 May 2021

Volunteers’ Week

Volunteers’ Week takes place each year at the beginning of June to recognise and celebrate the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK. It’s run by NCVO in partnership with Volunteer Scotland, Volunteer Now (Northern Ireland) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.

This year has been exceptional so we would like to invite you to join us in celebrating the many fantastic ways in which volunteers have contributed and how volunteering makes a real difference. It is up to you how you would like to join in and if you would like to share a story of how you have been involved in volunteering we would love to hear from you, please email volunteering@brookes.ac.uk.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering is a fantastic way to enhance your experience at Oxford Brookes. You can build confidence, gain new skills and make a difference to the local community.

Find out more about volunteering from our Careers Centre by joining:

  • a Volunteer chat which take place on Wednesdays and Fridays, 12 noon - 3.00pm
  • an Introduction to Volunteering workshop for students on Wednesday 2nd June, 12 noon - 12:45pm. For more information and to register go the Careers portal

If you would like to volunteer straightaway there will be some litter picks taking place during the week of 1 - 7 June. More information about these and other opportunities for volunteering can be found on the volunteer portal.

To find out more about volunteering, or to book in for a Volunteering 1-1 chat session please contact Maya, Volunteer Coordinator at volunteering@brookes.ac.uk.

A huge thank you

We will be recognising and congratulating our student volunteers for all their hard work and certificates will be sent to all students who have signed up to volunteer this semester. Please email volunteering@brookes.ac.uk to receive your certificate.

OCVA will also be issuing certificates to 3 lucky students nominated for their special contribution. We are excited to hear more and will keep you posted!

A big shout out and thank you to all our volunteers for the tremendous support you have provided throughout this year. It is an amazing achievement and we are very proud of you all, well done.
