The UK government offers a postgraduate loans scheme for new students starting master's courses. The scheme is open to part-time and full-time students, and in 2022/23 the maximum loan available is £11,570. Part-time students will receive the loan over two years of study. These loans are administered by the Student Loans Company, and unlike undergraduate loans they are paid directly to the student as a contribution towards study-related costs or living costs.

Students with a PG loan receive their loan in 3 instalments during the year of study to their account.

Note: PGCE student funding is via the undergraduate SFE route.
