  • Allocation policy

Our allocation policy explains how we allocate rooms in halls and which groups of students get priority or are guaranteed accommodation. The key information is summarised below.

All the deadlines and dates of our allocations are published on our how to apply webpage.

We can only allocate accommodation to applicants after their place at Oxford Brookes has been confirmed by our admissions team, ie once they are holding an unconditional course offer.

    Firm choice applicants

Firm choice applicants will be offered a room in one of their five hall choices as long as they apply before 31 July 2018 and meet the academic requirements of their offer by the allocation date. We cannot guarantee that students will receive their first choice hall as this will not always be possible because of demand.

Firm choice applicants who apply after 31 July but before 28 August will be guaranteed accommodation but not necessarily one of their five hall choices.

    Insurance choice applicants

Insurance choice students are guaranteed accommodation as long as they apply by the deadline and meet the academic requirements of their offer by the allocation date. If possible, we will offer insurance choice students a room in one of their preferred halls choice. However this cannot be guaranteed and they may be offered a room in another hall.

    Clearing applicants

When possible we will offer accommodation to applicants who come via clearing. However, we cannot guarantee accommodation due to availability and applicants should be prepared for the possibility that they will not secure a place in halls.

    Priority guaranteed accommodation

The following applicants will be given priority and guaranteed accommodation.

    • Applicants who will be under the age of 18 on 30 September.
    • Applicants and students with medical conditions or disabilities who require a specific type of suitable accommodation. Applicants will need to provide us with information about their needs and supporting medical evidence when they apply for accommodation.
    • Applicants transitioning from care will be guaranteed accommodation provided they make Oxford Brookes their firm choice.

    Mature students

Students over the age of 21 are classes as mature students and have the opportunity to live with postgraduate students or with other undergraduate students.
