Oxford Brookes University works in partnership with Abingdon and Witney College to deliver 3 Equine Science courses: BSc Equine Science, BSc Equine Science and Thoroughbred Management and a Foundation degree in Equine Science and Management. This summer school will give you an ideal opportunity to experience what it is like to be an Equine Science student at Oxford Brookes.
Arrival and registration at Oxford Brookes University JHBB (Lecture Theatre (Gipsy Lane).
Room allocation and house keeping at the post Graduates student village (Clive booth).
Evening activity: Getting to know your fellow students – fine dining cooking in hall.
You will be introduced to the course leaders and some tutors that teach on the courses before having a tour of the Headington campus in Oxford, including a visit to the Halls of Residence where you will be staying.This will be followed by short presentations to demonstrate where graduates have progressed to and where they are now in their careers and an overview of the courses and what Oxford Brookes has to offer. You will take part in research activities and learn about research specific to field of Equine Science.
In the morning you will be taken on a tour of the Witney campus, and then taken to Common Leys campus where you will have lectures and take part in practical demonstrations in the fields of equine science and behaviour.
During the day you will have a tour of the equine facilities that include a commercially run TB stud where you will meet the broodmares and their foals which form part of the resources available to all our students.
You will need to bring a change of clothing, your night clothes, wash kit, towel and suitable footwear and waterproof clothing for practical sessions on the second day.
You need to be 16 or over by the date of the summer school.
The Summer School is FREE and includes en-suite accommodation in Oxford Brookes University’s halls of residence, lunch on both days and breakfast on the second day.
There is no cost for attending the event. Please note that when allocating places priority will be given to students meeting the following criteria:
