Our Passport Days are designed for Year 10 students from selected schools in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Berkshire and Swindon.
The event aims to help young people achieve their aspirations by raising knowledge and confidence about Higher Education.
Up to 40 Year 10 students take part in an interactive day, focused around Higher Education. During the day, they are introduced to the benefits of Higher Education, the variety of courses on offer and explore the importance of expanding our comfort zones. Vital to the success of the day is the involvement of students ambassadors - students have the opportunity to work with them in groups, question them about any concerns they might have and learn more about their life as a student. After taking part in this day, your students should leave with a better understanding of student finance and the different routes into Higher Education following their GCSEs.
Here are a selection of quotes from students and teachers who have been involved in the day:
...[the pupils] really took to it and found it incredibly worthwhile. This is so much so that a group of students on the coach were discussing how the day had changed their whole approach to university and having previously thought that they would not be able to go to university, they now understand that there is assistance for them and that they were excited about having the prospect of going to university opened up to them. - Mrs A Minter-Bradley, Head of Year 10 (DISC), The Grange School
Thanks for a fantastic day today, a real eye opener for the kids of TBS - Teacher at The Bicester School
A really informative enjoyable day, much better than anticipated. I think I would like to go to uni now - Jacee
Today was very informative and a positive experience. I have learnt a lot and would like to go to university. - Kyle
The day was like a sneak peak into my future, I now feel more confident in going to uni and what it may hold - Oskar
Easy to ask questions and gain really useful information. It was eye opening and interesting. - Charley
The day has helped me understand the paths I need to take to get to University - Zoe
Your school will be contacted if it is eligible to take part in Passport Days. If it is not, you are still welcome to arrange a visit to the campus and to take part in many of our other activities.
